Big news in the Jootz R&D department!
In our ongoing effort to improve the quality of our decoupaged glass products, we're incorporating a new technique. We are now using "gold leaf foil" (as opposed to 18k "gold paint") to seal the artwork on most of our glass pieces.
The leafing process is challenging, but we are delighted with the end product!
With gold leaf backing, an aura of gold "specks" shows through the artwork. It also makes for a richer, more authentic look than the paint. The result is a very subtle and pretty shimmer of gold across the facade. We think you'll be excited about the new look!
The leafing process involves a small sheet of gold foil that is ever so thin, thinner than tissue or mylar. A special adhesive is used to create a permanent bond between the artwork and the leaf. We've decided to do two complete applications of the leaf, for richness and durability.
All the new pieces featured here were made using gold leaf.
